LINK BETWEEN HISTORIC JESUS MOVEMENT AND NOAHIDE MOVEMENT
The apostle Paul spoke of not focussing on aiming to know Christ "after the flesh" (that is, by means of carnal knowledge), but to worship in Spirit and Truth and know Him through being taught by the Holy Spirit through revelation.
Paul wrote:
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (2 Cor 5:16)
The so-called “Historic Jesus” movement along with the Torah movements like Hebrew Roots and Messianic Judaism err in that they focus on knowing Christ "after the flesh” and thereby focus on the carnal, fleshly things and not on worshipping in Spirit and in “newness of life”: (Rom 6:4)
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Cor 5:17)
In this blog I aim to show how the "Historic Jesus movement", which presents itself as helpful academic research, is a subversive movement and part of the spiritual war against the saints. I do not go in depth but look briefly at four well known names associated with this movement.
I also add a link to further research I did into the Messianic Judaism movement. which also focuses on a "historic" version of Jesus, the so-called "Jewish Jesus", a false christ they call "Yeshua". Like the "historic Jesus" movement, this also proved to be subversive.
The "HISTORIC JESUS" movement:
During my journey of investigating the Judaizing of Christianity, I found out
that James Tabor, who is one of the well known names associated with the
"Quest for the Historical Jesus" movement , is a proponent of the
Noahide movement.
Here is a link to an old article he wrote in 1991 which proves this:
Interestingly he calls the Noahide faith a "halfway house", which struck me.
The two calves at Beth-El and Dan Jeroboam set up for political control come to mind:
1 Kings 12:26–28 (KJVAnd Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David: 27 If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah. 28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
This
passage reminds me that just as Jereboam set up a religious system of his own making in order to hold on to political control of the people, today we see the Noahide movement being set up for
political reasons. The people are told: " Christianity is now
unacceptable in our post modern post truth world, and full observance
of Judaism is too much for you, so we give you an easier
path where you do not have to go all the way. And "Behold Israel after
the flesh" - they will be your gods who you will look to going
forward" (worship of and obedience to the state of Israel)
If James Tabor is a part of this movement, many other big names may also be.
I
do not want to delve too deeply into this, but I did look at three other well known names, and while I
cannot prove a direct link to the Noahide movement, there are things
that raise alarm bells to me.
BART EHRMAN:
Bart
Ehrman helps lead Christians out of the faith into atheism/agnosticism
to lead an "ethical" life of "meaning and purpose". While leading
people into atheism (with a webinar course!) is bad enough, those words
"ethical" and "meaning and purpose" are the tenets of what both the
secular and the religious Noahide movement claims to offer, and
according to Vincent Bruno, atheists can also become Noahides. People today only seek a form of godliness or morality, something that will unify them politically and create (false) peace and stability for them..
MICHAEL HEISER:
Michael
Heiser comes across as somewhat "orthodox" at first glance, however if
one watches this video where he speaks of the Noahide laws, it again
raises alarm bells for me personally:
Firstly,
he starts off immediately by warning Christians against antisemitism
when they question the Noahide laws. This is a huge warning bell for
me. A true shepherd will not sternly warn against antisemitism when
discussing the Noahide laws, but rather warn sternly against the
Noahide laws!
Then
in the video itself he says many things that are strange, for example
he keeps stressing that the sanhedrin Trump met with is "self
appointed". There is no way a rabbi would be able to appoint himself,
since they always lift their best sages to god-like status among themselves
and would never follow "self appointed" men.
Finally,
when you follow the link beneath his video, you come across a very
strange list of topics he discusses in which he invites people to "
Join Dr. Michael S. Heiser and learn how to think well about all things fringe."
There are many topics which are the usual topics that raise questionings, cause doubtful disputes and bring even more division among Christians. They are meant to get people to question the
faith. I notice his factual (and favourable) articles on both
Kabbalah and the Zohar, in which he does not start off with a warning,
as he does the video to warn against antisemitism when questioning the
Noahide laws. Again, strange for someone presenting himself on the
surface as an "orthodox Christian"
Here
is my personal opinion: He is the academic equivalent of Amir Tsarfati:
familiarizing and normalizing Jewish concepts and terms to Christians
and discussing things that ought not be part of Christianity, because
they lead to "doubtful disputations" and a falling away from the faith.
I also see a gatekeeper who obfuscates the truth to those who do have
questions,
to hide from their eyes the dangers we face, and to normalize things
such as "Noahide laws", and for those who do delve deeper, to "make
them think well" of topics that ought to raise alarm bells,
familiarizing them with things from the Jewish faith such as Kabbalah
and the Zohar, as if these things are benign and offer no threat to
Christianity.
ROBERT EISENMAN:
Robert
Eisenman is well known for his focus on James, the brother of Jesus.
There is a well known quote from the gospel of Thomas which reads:
"The disciples
said to Jesus, "We know that you will depart from us. Who is to be our
leader?" Jesus said to them, "Wherever you are, you are to go to James
the righteous, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being."
This
has (according to my understanding) been seen by many who turn
against Paul, fall from grace and follow "Jesus' words only", as a
coded instruction for them to return to the roots of Judaism once they
realize the church is in error. and then start to believe they have
hidden the true messiah from them. (This happens because they do not
understand that we are not saved by works. They may understand this
mentally, but it has not yet been revealed to them by the Father, and so
they fall from grace.)
I think there is ample proof that "The Historical Jesus" movement
is more about "deconstructing" the faith, and leading people to fall
away, rather than a real quest for truth.
I see four Judas goats here to lead into four flavours of apostasy:
Noahide, atheist/agnostic, blind and accommodating orthodoxy and Messianic
Judaism.
In
my opinion, this academic "Historic Jesus" movement can also be added
to our knowledge base of discerning the ranks of the spiritual army
that is warring against the saints. They are part of the front line
of this vast spiritual army, whether they are aware of it or not....as
the rot always comes down from academia and then out into the public
sphere.
THE MESSIANIC JUDAISM MOVEMENT:
Months after doing this research on the "Historic Jesus" movement, I also found a link between the messianic movement and the Noahide deception. You can read about this here:
